Description
Purpose: The Computational Data Analytics Group (CDAG) in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory has multiple openings for postdoctoral research associates in the field of Data Analytics. Job Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidates will assist CDAG scientists in a wide variety of research areas, including Modeling and Visualization. The selected candidates will perform basic and applied research toward the development of architectures capable of analyzing very large volumes of structured and unstructured information to find anomalous information using statistical methods, machine learning, information retrieval, and knowledge discovery techniques.
Qualifications Required
Minimum Qualifications Required: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field. Candidates must have demonstrated good academic standing, and the ability to conduct independent and significant research ; Position requires the ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) ; Demonstrated knowledge of Java and C/C++ programming is required ; Flexibility with regard to the research assignments is required ; Ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and sponsors is also required ; Capable of producing significant applied research results, publications, and funding proposals.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with very large data sets, high performance computing, and anomaly detection is desired ; Visualization-driven analysis of scientific, geospatial, demographic and predictive data.
Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. Certain exceptions may be considered.
This position is a temporary, full-time assignment for 24 months.
