About BioMed X

The BioMed X Innovation Center constitutes a novel way of collaboration at the interface between academia and industry. Young life science talents from all over the world are working jointly on pre-clinical research topics in the fields of biomedicine, molecular biology, cell biology and chemoinformatics. Interdisciplinary project teams are collaborating in an open-innovation lab facility on the campus of the University of Heidelberg, with guidance of experienced mentors while expanding their scientific network and receiving an intensive entrepreneurship and leadership training.

Applications are invited from early-career scientists with outstanding track record in the field of

Immunosuppressive Microenvironment of Tumors

Exploring the immunosuppressive microenvironment of tumors and applying methods for the identification of new targets for immunotherapy of cancer, specifically addressing the role of myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSC), tumor associated macrophages (TAM), and immature dendritic cells (iDC).

What we offer

Two postdoctoral researcher positions are offered for an initial term of two years, with the possibility of prolongation for up to two additional years, and an option for a permanent position.

Candidates for each postdoctoral position are expected to have several years of research experience and a certain degree of specialization in one or more relevant cutting-edge technologies.

As part of a research group in the above mentioned field the posts include a generous funding package covering personal salary and consumables, as well as access to the core facilities of neighboring research institutions and biotechnology companies.

There is flexibility over starting dates, but successful applicants are anticipated to take up post byNovember 1st, 2013.

The positions are sponsored by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany (ImmunoOncology Merck Serono).
