We are seeking a Postdoctoral Molecular Biologist/Biochemist with a PhD degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
Dr. Gyrd-Hansen’s research group is focused on understanding the role of ubiquitin in defining pro-inflammatory signals that, when inappropriately activated, contribute to tumour development and cancer progression, with the overall aim being to identify novel points of therapeutic intervention for cancer. The research focuses primarily on intracellular signalling by germ line-encoded pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). PRRs directly sense invading pathogens and in response assemble signalling complexes where formation of polyubiquitin chains triggers kinase signalling pathways, ultimately leading to inflammatory responses mediated by NF-B transcription factors as well as transcription factors activated by MAP kinases.
We are seeking an exceptional, enthusiastic and motivated scientist possessing experience in protein biochemistry and molecular/cellular biology, with the ability to work to a high standard. Previous laboratory experience, good communication skills, attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. The research project available will involve a wide range of basic and advanced molecular/cellular biology and biochemical techniques, including but not limited to recombinant protein production and purification, FPLC, mammalian cell culture, focussed RNAi screens, confocal imaging, and mass spectrometry. Previous and relevant experience in ubiquitin biology and/or innate immune signalling is highly desirable.
