Organic semiconductors are promising materials for next generation optoelectronics, combining tuneable optical properties with simple fabrication. The Organic Semiconductor Centre is internationally recognised for its research in this domain and invites applications for the following positions:
Post 3 – ML1400 Exciton Diffusion in Organic Semiconductors: Influence of Processing
Exciton diffusion is an important process in organic optoelectronic devices, and particularly important in solar cells. This position is part of an ambitious European Research Council project which aims to develop measurements of exciton diffusion, apply these measurements to develop structure-property relations for exciton diffusion, and finally to control exciton diffusion to improve solar cells and other organic optoelectronic devices.
The purpose of this position is to investigate how exciton diffusion in organic semiconductors is influenced by processing and molecular structure. We are looking for candidates with experience of controlling the properties of organic semiconductors (or other polymers) via their processing e.g. by deposition technique, surface modification, shear alignment etc. It is also desirable for candidates to be able to make photophysical and structural measurements of the resulting samples.

Candidates will be appointed for an initial period of one year, with possibility of extension.
