The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. A postdoctoral research scholar position is available at the School of Natural Sciences to study novel modes of assembly and transport using nanostructures derived from biological and carbon-based nanomaterials building blocks. The postdoctoral researcher would synthesize these nanostructures, determine their structure and test their transport properties.

Qualifications:
Successful applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry or related discipline and an excellent publication record. Experience in the following areas is preferred: carbon nanomaterials synthesis, nanopore transport studies, atomic layer deposition, self-assembled materials, LB films and/or lipid bilayer assembly.
