We are seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join the Biocomputing Group at MRC Harwell. The primary roll will be to automate the annotation of morphological phenotypes identified using advanced imaging technologies such as microCT and optical projection tomography (OPT). This will be achieved through developing volume and shape analysis toolkits. In addition, you will be expected to explore different ways of presenting data visualisations online and to a variety of audiences including clinical scientists. This is a new and exciting opportunity to work with a large number of collaborators, a multitude of datatypes and to be part of a new rapidly growing group.
To join us you will need:
• A PhD in Computational Science, or similar
• Ideally some experience of 3D imaging modalities and image processing within the context of a biological model system
This is a new position funded by the NIH. The goal is to identify new mouse models for human congenital diseases through the automatic identification of mouse morphological phenotypes. Data will be collected from mouse lines developed by the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium at MRC Harwell (IMPC – http://www.mousephenotype.org/), and from a large number of lines available at MRC Harwell that disrupt embryonic development. In addition, we will receive large amounts of secondary, in depth morphological phenotyping data from a variety of external collaborators.
You will work within the Biocomputing Group under the line management of Dr Henrik Westerberg. You will also work closely with the laboratories of Dr Andy Greenfield and Dr Dominic Norris, who are developing novel imaging techniques, and with Dr Lydia Teboul’s team, who are developing sample preparation protocols to get the best data possible from our modalities.
