Information about the research/the project/the division
The position is located within the division of Combustion at the Department of Applied Mechanics, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg.

Meeting legislation, adopted and proposed, regarding fuel consumption and emissions presents profound challenges for vehicle manufacturers. To meet future requirements for reduced carbon dioxide emissions, the powertrain has to be electrified.

The aim of the proposed research at post-doc level is to address systems engineering issues at the level of complete hybrid powertrains. The interdependence between the design, optimisation and control of the complete powertrain is of particular interest.

The strategic contribution of this position – in conjunction with a corresponding position on hybrid control at the department for Signal and Systems– would be to develop synergies between existing research efforts on the operation and control of hybrids, and the design and control of combustion engines.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position also includes teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD degree awarded by an internationally recognized University. Expertise in combustion engines, preferably gasoline combustion systems, will be highly valued. Knowledge of measuring methods is a prerequisite. The holder of this position is expected to actively contribute to joining efforts from different scientific disciplines and to cooperate towards a common goal.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; the degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
