Project Title: Development of Advanced Finite Element Simulation Software for Electrical Machines
Scope of Research: This project relates to the development of an in-house finite element simulation package which is well suited to use with numerical optimizers. The aim is to further enhance the package with additional capabilities and to do research in advanced finite element methods. The postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to work on individual research as well as to work within a group (doctoral and masters level students).
Host: This postdoctoral research post is based in the Electrical Machines Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Stellenbosch University.
Requirement: PhD (in related area)
- Previous experience in electrical machines design and analysis using finite element methods;
- Familiarity with finite element solvers and loss calculation models;
- Programming experience in Fortran, C or Python is a plus;
- Proficient in the English language.
Commencement of duties: As soon as possible
