A position is open for a full-time post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. The person hired will work in a group conducting basic and translational laboratory research focused on cancer immunology and immunotherapy.
The person hired will work under the supervision of the PI and will be involved in collaborative studies within Harvard Medical School and with outside collaborators, including industry. The mission of the laboratory is to translate fundamental discovery in the area of tumor microenvironments and immune evasion mechanisms to translational applications and clinical trials in head and neck cancer patients.
The position can serve as an ideal step before transition either to independent research in an academic setting, or a career in the pharmaceutical industry. There is a potential of transitioning to a more senior position, such as a senior research scientist, and as he/she publishes in the field of oncoimmunology, he/she will be encouraged to seek personal funding and will contribute to the writing of larger grants.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with extensive experience in basic immunology, cancer immunology, immunotherapeutics, and/or molecular therapeutics. Experience with work in BL2 conditions is required. The applicant must have mastered immunologic techniques such as complex multi-color flow cytometry with the LSRII machine and have experience with ELISPOT, ELISAs, and animal work. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. He/she must be able to work as part of a team and foster a collaborative work environment. Stipends are competitive and commensurate with experience.
