Postdoctoral position | Role of non-coding alterations in cancer : Gothenburg, Sweden
One postdoctoral position is available at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The overall aim of the project is to experimentally evaluate how alterations in non-coding DNA, identified through analysis of large-scale cancer genomics datasets, could contribute to tumorigenesis.
The project will involve experimental studies in cell culture systems and molecular biology methods such as cloning and plasmids, transfections and PCR. The project will be carried out within a research group that is primarily focused on bioinformatics, requiring the successful applicant to be highly independent and imaginative. The person recruited for this position will thus have a key role within the group. The work will be carried out in close contact with bioinformaticians, as well as experimental groups at the Sahlgrenska Academy with whom we are currently collaborating. Relevant recent publications from our group include: Stewart et al, PLOS Genetics 2015, Fredriksson et al, Nature Genetics 2014. Tang K-W et al, Nature Communications 2013; Akrami et al., PLoS One 2013; Jeggari A et al, Bioinformatics2012.
The applicant should have documented experience of relevant laboratory work, and is expected to have published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. Experience from relevant biological fields is desirable. Excellent communicative skills are required, including fluency in oral and written English.
An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory, and should have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application.
Full employment is provided for a period of two years.
