We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD or MD/PhD scientist to join our Blood Cell Development and Function group as a post-doctoral research fellow.

A deep knowledge of cellular immunology has accelerated our understanding of the molecular circuitry that drives human hematologic malignancies, including common mechanisms of signaling, transcriptional regulation, and survival. Functional and structural cancer genomics efforts have provided the foundation for molecular, cellular and genetic approaches to investigate the role and function of specific genes and pathways in cancer biology, which is essential not only to understand the molecular basis of cancer but also to develop the means to target these pathways therapeutically.

The overarching goal of our laboratory is to pursue a new understanding of immune regulatory pathways in human hematological malignancies (including lymphoma and leukemia), with a particular interest in ubiquitin-mediated signaling in tumor pathogenesis using functional and structural cancer genomics.  We are using unbiased high throughout CRISPR/Cas9 library screening technology to rapidly and accurately identify key pathways that are suitable for gene and target specific therapies.  We seek a postdoctoral fellow to join our efforts to apply multidisciplinary cutting-edge approaches to further our understanding of protein ubiquitination and also its role in human hematological malignancies. The individual will engage in experiments involving high throughout CRISPR/Cas9 library screening, next-generation sequencing, gene expression (RNA-seq), biochemical analysis, and eventually exploiting targeted therapy for human hematological malignancies. This is a unique opportunity for someone with expertise in biochemistry/molecular biology and next generation sequencing techniques to learn complementary skills and become proficient in translational study.

The candidate must have excellent skills in biochemistry and molecular biology, and ideally with experiences in post-translational protein modifications. Knowledge and expertise in cancer biology and/or immunology and experience in high quality flow cytometry-based assays, tissue culture, RNA-seq, cytokine multiplex assays and ELISA, next-generation sequencing are desirable. He/she will be required to be highly motivated with a strong passion for research and with good communication skills in English.
