A position is open for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join a creative laboratory focusing on tumor heterogeneity, metastasis and drug resistance. The laboratory has recently developed a strategy that enables the tracking of individual cells within heterogeneous cancer cell populations throughout disease progression. Current work is focused on optimizing this method to make it more readily applicable to a variety of in vitro and in vivo disease models. The successful candidate will work with the Principal Investigator, a team of PhD students and laboratory technicians to perform this optimization before applying it to elucidate molecular drivers of disease progression and drug resistance. Later studies will involve genomic profiling (RNAseq, Exom -Capture, Copy number-variation) of single cells and clonal cell populations. The work will also involve the use of next generation shRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 libraries to perform loss-of-function and gain-of-function screens. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Experience Physical Abilities |
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: PhD in area directly related to field of research specialization. EXPERIENCE: Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization. Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment. Preferred demonstrated scientific creativity and rigor by publishing their PhD work in reputable scientific journals. Preferred experience in tumor-immunology. Preferred experience with molecular cloning, cell culture, virus production, DNA/RNA extraction, next-generation sequencing technologies mouse injections, and tissue extraction. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (e.g. lifting standing, walking) The candidate must be able to use pipetmen. There will be some long periods of standing. |
