BGI Research USA, affiliated with Complete Genomics is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral research fellows to participate in cutting-edge Microfluidics technology innovation. The Advanced Microfluidics team of the BGI Innovation center has been recently established to promote the advanced research on novel digital Microfluidics for genomic applications. The postdoctoral fellows hired will be involved in the development of novel sample preparation automations and applications for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). At the end of postdoc training, the candidates will have an opportunity to pursue full time employment options at BGI.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Work together with a team of in-house technical experts, come up with ideas and contribute to the execution of the ideas independently and collaboratively
• Efficiently and independently manage his or her research projects in the industrial environment
• Perform microfluidic system test and validation for different applications
• New cartridge substrate development for microfluidic compatibility and optimization
• Fluidic cartridge design and trouble shooting
• Transfer novel processes to the development and operations side of the business units
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD degrees in the field of sciences or engineering (chemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, material sciences, electrical and mechanical engineering).
• Experience with electrowetting or dielectrophroesis technology
• Must have proficient written, communication, and presentation skills in English
• 10-20% domestic or/and international travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Mandarin speaking and/or writing is a plus.
