Postdoctoral Fellow/Medicine-Hematology – 18000001FP

　　Description

　　The Makowski Lab is looking for an exceptional postdoctoral fellow to conduct studies on oxidative stress and cancer. We use cell culture, pre-clinical models, biochemical assays, single cell analysis, and genomic/metabolomic profiling to address hypotheses regarding the complex links between oxidative stress, obesity, and cancer outcomes. This fellow must think independently to design and plan experiments, problem solve, and be technically skilled in typical molecular techniques, with essential expertise in murine models and cell culture. Knowledge of flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, rodent pre-clinical models and orthotopic transplant oncology studies, metabolism, and bioinformatics are a plus. This fellow is expected apply for grants (NIH K, K99/R00, and F32, and other postdoctoral grants) with the mentoring support. Exceptional oral and written skills are required. Fellows must complete first and co-author manuscripts and present findings at local and national meetings. We are looking for an accomplished, organized, efficient, trustworthy, and dynamic personality. The position will be at University of Tennessee Health Science Center (https://uthsc.edu/) in the Center for Cancer Research (https://www.uthsc.edu/cancer/). Postdoctoral fellows will be part of the University of Tennessee postdoctoral association (http://www.uthsc.edu/PhDA) with the support of the UTHSC postdoctoral office (http://www.uthsc.edu/postdoc/).

　　Qualifications

　　Ph.D. must have been completed later than 2014. Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or similar with >5 years of experience is required. Multiple lead publications in top scientific journals and presentations at national conferences are required.
