MRC Post-Doctoral Research Scientist

　　Salary £35,340 – £38,181 pa inclusive*

　　The Synthetic Biology lab – Sarkisyan group – is looking for a scientist with extensive wet lab experience and, preferably, good coding skills to perform molecular engineering of bacteria, yeasts and worms.

　　We are a small new lab in the Integrative Biology section of the London Institute of Medical Sciences (MRC & Imperial College London). We love high-throughput assays, automation and light-based biotechnologies and are equally interested in fundamental and applied topics. Our projects range from designing high-throughput assays for analysis of structure-function relationship in proteins to engineering cells that are able to perform directed evolution without human involvement. We also plan to work on development of optical life-life and life-computer communication interfaces based on a combination of emerging optogenetic and bioluminescent technologies.

　　You should have a PhD or equivalent. Previous experience with DNA assembly techniques is essential, genome engineering is desirable, as well as coding skills in Python. Experience in synthetic biology is a plus.

　　Salary quoted is inclusive of London weighting. Additional allowances comprise a £1,000 lump sum Settlement Allowance plus a yearly Training Allowance of £850 in the first year, paid in monthly instalments. The Training Allowance increases to £1,300 in year two, and £1,800 in the third year.
