Postdoctoral Scientist – Structural Studies

　　Salary Range £30,464 – £33,305

　　We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist to join the group of Dr Sjors Scheres to work on the development of algorithms aimed at improving protein structure determination by reconstruction of cryo-electron microscopy images. Specifically, to investigate the use of modern machine-learning approaches for this purpose.

　　You will become part of our multi-disciplinary team, where image processing developments are performed alongside experimental cryo-EM, and you will benefit from further interactions with the wider scientific community at the MRC-LMB. You are highly motivated, have a PhD in a relevant subject, and you have a demonstrated affinity for scientific algorithm development. Experience of modern machine-learning methods and/or experience of algorithm development for image reconstruction, perhaps even in cryo-EM, are an important advantage.

　　The successful applicant will be awarded a three year Career Development Fellowship / Postdoctoral training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a post-doctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills.
