A postdoctoral position is available in the Wehrens lab (https://www.bcm.edu/research/labs/xander-wehrens) in the Cardiovascular Research Institute, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. This position will study the role of sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium handling in cardiac physiology, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure pathogenesis. The overall goal of our lab is to undercover pathogenic mechanisms underlying cardiac diseases, and to develop new treatment modalities including small molecule drugs and gene therapy vectors. The lab studies human tissue samples and inducible pluripotent stem cells, small animal models of heart disease, and performs studies on isolated hearts and single cardiomyocytes using state-of-the-art approaches.
Required:
PhD, MD or MD/PhD
Prior research experience in cardiovascular or basic biomedical research.
Peer reviewed publications in reputable journals.
