　　Job Description

　　The Department of Pathology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. The Postdoctoral Associate will be part of a team investigating the gamma-2 lymphotropic herpesvirus of rhesus monkeys called RRV that is a close monkey relative of the human Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus. The successful applicant will work on the generation of new recombinant RRV strains for improved transgene expression and evaluate their performance as vaccines in rhesus macaques (see PLoS Pathog. 2018 Jun 18;14(6):e1007143 and Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2019 Jan 29;116(5):1739-1744).

　　The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

　　The individual will develop RRV-based vaccines against Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV).

　　The individual will implement techniques to detect and quantify antibody responses to both RRV and SIV proteins.

　　The influence of codon usage on late viral gene expression in other virus families will be investigated.

　　The individual will participate in Desrosiers lab group meeting every Wednesday morning.

　　The individual is expected to maintain a high level of current knowledge and laboratory skills.

　　The individual will analyze results, and prepare graphs and summary slides intended for publication.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　Ph.D. in a life science field of study, M.D., or other doctoral-level degree. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
