　　Job Description

　　The John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a computational Postdoctoral Associate. This position will work on the statistical genetic aspects of Alzheimer's Disease (AD), as part of the multidisciplinary International Consortium. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on research directed towards identifying genes and the mechanisms that they influence to increase the risk of or prevent the onset of Alzheimer's Disease.The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:Performing basic analyses of next-generation sequencing data including quality control filtering and bioinformatic interpretation.Conducting research in human disease models to evaluate candidate genes.Conferring with the Principal Investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; making minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular equipment as required.Reviewing journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous experiments to aid in the design and development of original procedures and techniques.Supervising, training, and instructing residents, interns, students, and others in statistical analysis techniques and procedures.Presenting research findings at laboratory meetings and conferences.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral-level degree. Must have experience in statistical genetics, statistics, genetic epidemiology, or bioinformatics. Ability to successfully work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
