　　Job Description

　　The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Fellow. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia develops in the bone marrow. The leukemia cells can become resistant to drug treatment because they obtain support for their growth and survival from stromal cells in this environment. This lab studies the molecules and mechanisms that are responsible for this type of drug resistance development.

　　Key Responsibilities include:

　　For this position we are particularly interested in someone with a PhD and expertise in cell biology to study mechanisms of lysosomal programmed cell death. We work with leukemia in tissue co-culture with stromal cells, cell imaging, retroviral or lentiviral transduction, Cas/CRISPR knockout, FACS, and mice. Candidates who are interested in following an academic career path, are self-motivated and enjoy the complexity of biological systems are especially encouraged to apply.

　　Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

　　Ph.D. in cell biology or related field.

　　Experience in working with hematopoietic cells in tissue culture, imaging cells.

　　Preferred education experience and skills:

　　Expertise in glycobiology is an advantage but not required.

　　The location of our lab at the Monrovia Campus of the Beckman Research Institute within the Department of Systems Biology provides many opportunities to interact with others who study leukemias.

　　Our lab also has ongoing collaborations in the area of glycobiology with scientists at the Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, Australia.
