A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Neurosciences at the Cleveland Clinic.
The research goal is to understand the anatomical and functional organization of hippocampal neural circuits that underlie mental behaviors and diseases, with a hope that the outcomes of our research will lead to the development of new therapeutic approaches to prevent, treat, and cure neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. A successful candidate will focus on understanding neuronal connectivity (using a rabies virus-mediated retrograde tracing and various imaging methods) and function (using DREADD, optogenetics, and electrophysiology) of hippocampal neural circuits in normal and disease rodent models. Understanding molecular mechanisms governing neural circuit formation is also our research directions.
Our lab is seeking highly motivated, independent, and creative individuals with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with laboratory expertise in neuroscience, genetics, cell biology, or related fields. Extensive experience in animal experiments is strongly recommended. Candidates are expected to lead a project and establish a collaborative research and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants should send a cover letter, CV, and complete contact information for three references to Dr. Hoonkyo Suh at suhh2@ccf.org
