A full-time postdoctoral fellowship position (Ph.D. level or equivalent) is immediately available in the Department of Ophthalmology, at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington DC, in Dr. Nady Golestaneh’s lab.
The focus of the lab is to study the mechanisms of age-related macular degeneration and to identify novel treatment strategies. To achieve these goals, we generate induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from patients’ samples for in vitro studies and use preclinical mice models for in vivo experiments.
Highly motivated, Ph.D. level researchers with in-depth training in stem cell research and disease modeling and transgenic animal models are encouraged to apply. Fundamental molecular biology/cell biology skills including cloning, virus-mediated gene expression, immunostaining, western blot, are also required. Experience with CRISPR-Cas 9 gene editing is highly desired but not required.
