Postdoc in Digital-Signal-Processing for Continuous-Variable Quantum Key

Continuous-variable quantum key distribution (QKD) is a well established technology to distribute secret keys between two parties for data encryption. Within this position you will develop highly efficient digital-signal- processing algorithms and integrate them into a QKD system. The project is interdisciplinary and will be carried out in a larger team comprising people from different academic departments and industry.

The project will be carried out in Machine Learning in Photonic Systems (M-LiPS), group at DTU Fotonik, Technical University of Denmark. The project is interdisciplinary and will cover topics within the field of quantum communication, machine learning, signal processing and optical communication. The group has a strong track record and and industry collaboration in the application of machine learning techniques to optical communication systems and photonic systems in general.

Responsibilities and tasks

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who will be in charge of designing digital-signal-processing and machine learning algorithms for continuous-variable quantum key distribution with highest performance. You will

  develop and experimentally demonstrate algorithms for various digital- signal-processing tasks for continuous-variable quantum key distribution

  support and test hardware implementations of the algorithms

  develop new machine learning techniques to improve continuous-variable quantum key distribution

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

You have a passion for developing digital-signal-processing algorithms and to apply them in practical systems such as continuous-variable quantum key distribution systems. You enjoy finding clever solutions to difficult problems and further you have the following qualifications:

  Experience with digital-signal-processing for telecommunication systems

  Experience with continuous-variable quantum key distribution

  Experience in Bayesian inference based machine learning methods for phase recovery, in particular with unscented Kalman filters

  Experience with matlab programming

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years.
