In the Group Zhang ‚Wood Technology and Wood Chemistry‘ at the Georg-August- University of Goettingen is one postdoctoral position open as:

wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiterin (w/m/d) - Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L -

with 100% of regular working hours (zzt. 39,8 hours/week). The initial appointment will be from 01.10.2020 or next earliest date for one year and an extension is possible.

Group Zhang is working in the cutting-edge fields between chemical synthesis, biomass and functional materials. We are developing diverse novel green and sustainable chemical methods for the valorization and functionalization of biomass, in addition to fabrication of functional materials and investigation of diverse physicochemical processes.

Your tasks: - Independent design, performance and development of scientific experiment for sustainable, green and catalytic valorization of plant biomass and the elucidation of the reaction mechanism and products - Chemical modifications of plant biomass, such as on lignin and/or cellulose, for biorefinery - Writing of scientific publications - Project management of the scientific work - Consulting and contribution to writing research proposals

Our requirements: - Excellent or highly successful Ph.D. (Dr.rer.nat. or equivalent) in the fields of sustainable chemistry, green chemistry or catalytical biorefinery, or related subjects - Solid synthesis experience and hand-on experiences with synthesis methods and analytical devices in relevant research fields - Familiar with highly up-to-date research topics in above mentioned fields - Highly motivated and with strong interest in experimental work - Ability to work independently - Publication experience in relevant journals is preferred. - Previous working experience as a postdoctoral research is preferred - Fluency (oral and written) in English
