The mitochondrial morphogenesis group led by Hongxia Zhao is inviting applications for

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER OR DOCTORAL STUDENT IN CELL BIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY.

The full-time position will start as soon as possible. The contract is initially for one year and can be extended. The research group of Hongxia Zhao uses a wide array of biochemical, biophysical, cell biological, and genetic methods to identify and characterize novel proteins critical for mitochondrial morphogenesis and dynamics, to address the underlying molecular mechanisms and their functional link to mitochondrial diseases. We are now looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individual(s) with a strong background in cell biology and biochemistry. Strong expertise in mitochondrial biology is highly beneficial. The working language of the lab is English and knowledge of the Finnish language is not necessary.

The salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities, and the starting salary of the doctoral student will be based on level 2. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be ca. 3200– 3500 euros/month and that of the doctoral student will be ca. 2200–2300 euros/month, depending on the appointees' qualifications and experience. A six-month trial period will be applied.
